Aside from a handful of teams, most Premier League clubs spent their summer looking for a new striker, and, for the most part, found one.
Manchester United got Zlatan Ibrahimovic, West Ham brought in Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza, Leicester City bought Islam Slimani and Ahmed Musa etc…
However, a lot of these teams struggled to get their first choice targets, and that appears to be the case for two of the three aforementioned sides.
According to Tuttosport on Friday, both Leicester and West Ham were after Torino’s Andrea Belotti over the summer, who scored 12 goals for Torino during the 2015-16 season.
The 22-year-old, who has scored four in his first three league games so far, was an option for Claudio Ranieri had Jamie Vardy decided to leave for Arsenal, whereas West Ham focused on the Belotti before turning to Simone Zaza later on in the window.
Unfortunately for both teams, Torino made it very clear the youngster was not for sale, and it appears he has already repaid their faith.
Currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, the striker is expected to return next week, and the Serie A side will be hoping he continues his red hot form once fully recovered.
