Touted to be signing for Liverpool for a very long time, Udinese’s Piotr Zielinski’s future still hasn’t been sorted out, but one thing about it has been made clear.
One of the main reasons why the deal hadn’t been confirmed was due to Napoli turning up late to the party and becoming a bit of the nuisance for the Premier League club.
However, this annoyance seems to have now gone away, as the player’s agent told Raffaele Auriemma for Radio CRC, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, that his client would not be signing for Napoli in Serie A.
He was reported as saying: “To be honest, there is absolutely no chance the player could go to Napoli.”
If this is true, then Liverpool have just been given a huge boost in their chase for the player, as the Italian media had been adamant Napoli had a good chance of signing him.
Loaned to Empoli for the 2015-16 season, the 22-year-old Polish midfielder scored five goals and picked up six assists in 36 games last season, catching the eye of many teams in the process.
His performances even helped him secure a space in Poland’s squad for the 2016 Euros, but the midfielder failed to come off the bench in his country’s first game of the tournament against Northern Ireland.
