Former Leicester City chief Eduardo Macia had an opportunity to join West Ham United in the past.
The Foxes appointed the Spaniard as their Head of Senior Player Recruitment in 2016, he had previously worked with Claudio Ranieri at Valencia.
Back in 2018, we carried a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, who stated that West Ham wanted to bring Macia to the club, while he was still at Leicester.
Earlier this month, Spezia Calcio appointed the 48-year-old as their managing director. Il Secolo XIX had a chat with Macia and his comments are relayed by Fiorentinanews. He revealed he’d snubbed Barcelona, when he was at Fiorentina, between 2011 and 2015.
It’s further claimed Macia had ‘received requests’ from both West Ham and Parma, while a return to Fiorentina was envisaged. The report does not specify when the Hammers approached him again, but it sounds like it was this summer before he took the Spezia role.
Either way, Macia wasn’t in favour of joining the Premier League side, after previously working at Liverpool and Leicester.
