Fenerbahce are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, if the reports are to be believed.
According to Italian website Calciomercato, the Turkish club ‘courted’ the 27-year-old and the Merseyside club have ‘blocked the sale’ of the former Newcastle United man to the Super Lig side.
The Dutch international has three years left on his contract at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp’s side have decided not to sanction his sale.
Calciomercato’s report does not mention the source of the story, nor do they claim it is their original story. It is a bit weird for them to come up with a report because they tend to be less reliable when it comes to stories outside of Italy.
In addition to this, the Dutch international has not played for any Italian clubs in the past, which makes us wonder if this could be a story from another source.
Meanwhile, Wijnaldum has also revealed there are no truth to the rumours linking with him a move to Turkey during an interview with the Evening Standard earlier this week.
