Yesterday, we covered news from Italy which said Lazio would be offering Stefan De Vrij a new contract in order to protect him from the Chelsea’s approaches. The Italian side had reportedly rejected a €25m offer for him during the summer, and would like to hold him with a new deal.
Now on Tuesday, several Italian websites are reporting that Chelsea would be ready to make another attempt to sign the defender before the new contract is signed.
These websites are all giving credits to The Express, who would have posted that Chelsea are making an offer to have De Vrij in January.
However, the Express never said that. They’ve just covered the news from yesterday, just like we did. They didn’t even tease saying that Chelsea should move quickly or anything like that. So the Italian websites simply made of it what they wanted.
Despite all the attempts to sign a few defenders, Antonio Conte ended up splashing some good cash on David Luiz from PSG and temporarily sorted his search for a player for the position.
The manager could want another signing, but the latest De Vrij rumours are nothing but smoke.
