Italy’s Calciomercato.it report that peace may not have been found between Antonio Conte and Chelsea.
On Thursday, Cesc Fabregas pretty much confirmed that Conte has left the club, by sending his thanks to the manager via social media. That would lead to the assumption an agreement has been found between the manager and London club.
Now it’s suggested otherwise. Calciomercato.it say Chelsea claim ‘just cause’ to fire Conte, which would mean no compensation is payable.
The situation between the manager and Diego Costa, as well as public comments made by Conte which weren’t ‘in favour of the club’, would be the reason.
Conte is said to disagree with that stance and wants compensation plus his final year of salary. It’s suggested a compromise could be found, with Chelsea continuing to pay the manager’s wages.
For now, the situation, at least according to this claim from Italy, means the ‘cards are in the hands of lawyers’.
