Even though the rumours linking Antonio Conte to Manchester United aren’t exactly strong at this stage, they still exist.
A fresh claim on this possibility is brought by RAI journalist Ciro Venerato, who analyses the manager’s future.
He claims that with Napoli having some difficulty convincing Conte, the manager is still full of possibilities for his future, with Manchester United among them.
“The only certainty: the Neapolitan club has not yet chosen the coach. It has two options in hand (Italiano and Pioli) and can choose calmly. Conte is still on the market until today. A.C. Milan are not interested in the Salentino (never in the running despite the rumours) as well as Juve. In the Premier League, more than Chelsea (there are denials from London), Manchester United could come up, without resetting the offer (always valid) from the Arab world. Conte has more than once opened up to Napoli, but so far, the former Italian champions have never sunk the blow.”
Manchester United are still to take a decision on Erik ten Hag’s future, as despite his many lows in the Premier League this season, it’s highly unlikely he’d be sacked before the FA Cup final against Manchester City in their final game of the season.
The arrival of new management at the club makes it very possible that they’ll want a new coach, though, so it’s not strange to see other managers being linked to the job. Conte’s name has been a possibility for a long time, and as it seems he’s ready to get back to training, he could be one of the names on the list.
