Former AS Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini could make a return to football with Tottenham Hotspur, according to claims in the Italian media. The Italian recently stepped down from his role at Roma after five years with the Serie A side.
Calciomercato have today reported Sabatini could be an idea for Tottenham to be installed as their sporting director. The Premier League side have been without a sporting director since Franco Baldini stepped down for the role last year, and his compatriot could be in line to replace him.
It’s been reported Sabatini travelled to London this week to watch Tottenham’s Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen, and also spoke to officials from the North London club. As yet there has been no official approach for Sabaitni, but it still remains a possibility in the future.
One Tottenham player who is likely to welcome Sabatini is Erik Lamela after the Italian signed the Argentine from River Plate in 2011. Sabatini last month went on record to say it was his biggest regret he couldn’t prevent Lamela signing for Tottenham in 2013 because he was a key player for Roma.
