This week, we had an article saying the Italian media were afraid to confess that the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus could lose an auction to Leicester City.
And they still are.
Calcio Mercato says Inter want Gabigol to make the decision quickly, since they considered them to be in pole position for the striker and don’t want to take the risk of having the player changing his mind.
To avoid this, the Italian club would be planning to invite Gabigol’s family to Italy so they could meet with the club in person.
Juventus, who offered only €20m and were outbid by €5m by Inter, could still try the signing again in case they sell Simone Zaza. But the Old Lady wouldn’t like to get involved in an auction, since they know that other clubs could go far, and that’s where Leicester are mentioned.
The Foxes have reportedly offered €27m, and they mention no big reason why they would be losing the race to Inter for now. Santos have only the right to receive the €18m release clause, so it’s basically a player’s decision, with him getting the rest of the money, which will be taken after the Olympics.
