Napoli, or at least sources close to the club, have been talking up interest in Kalidou Koulibaly over the past week or so.

The defender isn’t having the best of seasons, but his previous performances mean there’s likely to be transfer interest should he be available in the summer. Both Manchester clubs, PSG and several others are being routinely linked, with Napoli thought to be looking for an unlikely fee of around €100m.

Should they sell Koulibaly, they’ll have to replace him, and that’s where Bournemouth come into the picture.

Emanuele Cammaroto, presented by AreaNapoli as a journalist and transfer market specialist, is quoted as saying: “Giuntoli is ready to return to Nathan Ake, he hasn’t lost sight of him and waits for Gattuso’s OK. Bournemouth evaluates the player at €35m: with the sale of K2 (Koulibaly) it would not be difficult to secure the Dutchman.”

Cristiano Giuntoli is Napoli’s director of football, and would therefore be the man charged with finding a replacement for their senior defender.

Depending on which division they find themselves in next season, there’s every chance Bournemouth would be looking for more than €35m to part ways with Ake, who has also been linked to other Premier League clubs.
