Red Bull Salzburg’s Clement Bischoff says he learnt an important lesson from his failed move to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Campo in Denmark have been speaking to the 19-year-old about his late move to Austria from Brøndby IF last summer. He was also asked about the negotiations with the English club.
Brighton made an attempt to agree a deal for his transfer, just days after the winter 2025 market closed.
The Seagulls’ plan was to reach an agreement with Brøndby for him to arrive at The Amex last summer.
Back in February, we covered claims from Denmark that the winger travelled to the UK to undergo medical tests with Brighton. Later that month, Tipsbladet reported the operation collapsed due to a last-minute disagreement between the parties.
A month later, the Denmark U21 international admitted he was upset his move to the Premier League side didn’t go through. Brøndby sporting director Benjamin Schmedes was also not pleased that the deal didn’t go through.
Bischoff was able to put the Brighton disappointment behind him and secured a move to Red Bull Salzburg.
Although the Dane doesn’t explain the reason why he didn’t end up at Brighton, he points out the move was close.
“It was close, but it has been quite a while since then. What I take with me and have learned is that you can never be sure until a deal is signed. But I stayed focused and took another chance. So, I’m happy with how everything is now,” he said.
