FC Twente have publicly expressed their desire to bring Rangers’ Robin Pröpper back to the club, a year after letting him move to Ibrox.
On Friday, we covered claims from the Dutch press which stated the 31-year-old could soon leave Rangers for Twente. A day later, journalist Paul Lassche reported the defender would seal his return on Sunday, but that didn’t happen.
Earlier this week, Twente technical director Jan Streuer said the centre-back and his agent first have to “sort out things” with Russell Martin’s side. He also insisted on the need for a quick solution.
RTV Oost have had a chat with the Eredivisie side official and asked about the latest on their interest in the Rangers player, Twente Insite have relayed his comments.
Streuer is optimistic about finding a positive outcome in Twente’s efforts to bring the defender back to the club this summer.
When asked to assess the situation, the director indicated Russell Martin’s decision to not take the Dutchman on the pre-season training camp should favour them.
“It seems positive to me, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be joining. You never know in football; a lot can happen. He didn’t attend the training camp with Rangers FC, but he could also say he’s staying. A player can always say he wants to stay,” he said.
Pröpper played 3,210 minutes from 43 games for the Scottish club last season.
