Queens Park Rangers manager Marti Cifuentes has spoken to the Danish media with regards to the situation with Lucas Andersen’s injury and has revealed it’s not as bad as first thought.
Andersen picked up an injury during QPR’s game against Sheffield United which ruled him out of the clash with Plymouth Argyle tomorrow lunchtime.
Speaking to Tipsbladet, the former AaB boss has played down Andersen’s injury despite initial concerns. Cifuentes confirmed the attacking midfielder only picked up a minor muscle problem and that he’s been in training for the past few days.
However, the Spaniard couldn’t give the exact date Andersen will be returning to the team, but the situation at this stage is positive.
“My feeling when it happened was not good. I know Lucas very well, and when I saw that he sat down on the grass, it was obviously not a good signal. He has sustained a muscle injury, and examinations have subsequently shown that it is only a minor injury. It is very positive, and he has been on the training ground the last few days. I can’t say exactly when he will be ready again, but the situation is much better than it looked at first glance,” said the QPR head coach.
Andersen only joined QPR during the last transfer window from Danish club AaB and went on to make 15 appearances for the west London side, scoring one goal.
The 29-year-old has started all three games this season but was substituted during the 1st half against Sheffield United due to his injury.
