West Ham United striker Niclas Füllkrug has admitted that “it didn’t go well” the club, as he looks to revive his career at AC Milan.

Corriere dello Sport cover comments from the German striker today. He’s officially been revealed by the Italian club after joining them on loan earlier this month.

Füllkrug had been keen to leave the London Stadium this month to keep his World Cup dream alive. He’s endured a miserable, injury-hit time with them since joining from Borussia Dortmund in August 2024.

He arrived at the London Stadium after an impressive season in which he’d helped fire the German side to the Champions League final.

However, he never found his feet in London. That was largely due to injuries. An Achilles problem in September that year and a hamstring in January 2025 were the most significant.

Both parties had accepted it wasn’t going to work and Füllkrug’s agent even pushed for a move long before the January transfer window opened. He admitted publicly that the move to West Ham had been a mistake.

That’s something the striker is also happy to admit, as he looks to get back on track in Italy with Milan.

“It’s not an easy place. It was a huge change, it didn’t go well: I hope I can turn the page,” he said.

“I came here and didn’t go anywhere else because Milan convinced me. I want to play for prestigious teams; for me, it’s a positive pressure to handle.

“I’m hoping to continue like this in the future. I hope to be available again regularly so I can continue where I left off.”
