Ipswich Town’s offer for Fotis Ioannidis is still much better than Sporting’s, and the Lisbon club haven’t made a fresh one recently, reports Wednesday’s edition of Record.

The Portuguese newspaper states the striker is now starting to agitate for a transfer to Sporting, putting pressure on at current club Panathinaikos.

Transfer efforts have been ongoing since March, and it’s apparently only now that the player is getting serious, asking club president Giannis Alafouzos to facilitate his move to Portugal.

However, Sporting’s latest offer is €20m plus a potential €3m in bonuses, whereas it’s said Ipswich Town hit €28m.

At that stage Ioannidis didn’t want to move to the Premier League club, but there’s every chance he could change his mind if Sporting can’t agree a fee.

Panathinaikos know what they could have got from Ipswich Town and therefore don’t want to drop below that. They weren’t keen on selling this summer anyway so aren’t minded to be flexible for the 24-year-old.

Sporting will have to go higher, or Ipswich Town may have another chance.
