Valencia are interested in Ipswich Town goalkeeper Arijanet Muric this summer, as the 27-year-old prepares to return to Portman Road.
Cadena SER report that Valencia have enquired about Muric’s contract situation, with his current deal set to expire in 2028.
Sassuolo spell goes well
Arijanet Murich currently belongs to Ipswich Town but has spent the season on loan at Italian side Sassuolo. That includes an option to buy this summer.
But the goalkeeper has made it clear that he doesn’t intend to stay with the Serie A side beyond the end of the loan deal. He has been a regular this season, with 32 appearances in the league, 43 goals conceded and six clean sheets. He’s featured in 89% of the available minutes.
Whether he is a part of Ipswich’s plans in the Premier League, are currently unknown. The goalkeeper has now been replaced by Christian Palmer, so the belief is that he is not in the plans as yet.
Valencia are looking for a potential deal. They are considering activating a clause to extend Stole Dimitrievski. If they do that, they would then possibly look for an experienced goalkeeper to back him up. Muric could be that player.
He has played all over Europe at this point, including Switzerland, England, the Netherlands, Spain, Türkiye and Italy this season. He spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Girona but only made six appearances during his time there. Still, he has experience in Spain.
Valencia transfer options
Now, here at Sport Witness, we would urge caution when it comes to Valencia. Their finances are tight, to say the least, and they are not going to spend big sums on Arijanet Muric this summer.
That would certainly be the case if he was to be a back up to Dimitrievski. They would, more likely, want a low-cost move or a loan deal. Whether Ipswich would sanction either, is debatable.
Even if was a loan with a purchase option, and Mauric did well, it’s highly unlikely Valencia would keep to the amount.
By all accounts Muric has done well in Italy this season. There may be other suitors, willing to offer better deals than Valencia this summer.
