Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko has emerged as a Janaury transfer ‘idea’ for Lazio, according to La Lazio Siamo Noi.

Pep Guardiola converted the midfielder into a left-back/left wing-back at the Etihad, but his situation with the Citizens isn’t encouraging.

The 24-year-old made his first league start of the campaign in City’s last league win over Chelsea. The City manager had to deploy the Ukraine international after some of his men tested positive for Covid-19.

La Lazio Siamo Noi state the Ukraine international, who is out of Guardiola’s project’, is looking to have more minutes in the second half of this season in order to maintain his place in the national team for Euro 2020.

It’s claimed intermediaries have ‘proposed’ the player to the Serie A side, and the Rome based club are ‘thinking’ about it… as everyone, from sporting director Igli Tare to manager Simone Inzaghi, likes the idea of signing Zinchenko.

The report, however, makes it clear there have been no contacts with the Premier League side.

Lazio have been told a transfer is possible in the winter market, even if it’s on an ‘onerous loan’ with ‘right of redemption’ set at €20m. These figures seem high for Lazio, who have ‘little money’.

Zinchenko earns €2m per season and his wages shouldn’t be an issue for them.

Lazio are reflecting and it remains to be seen if the ‘idea’ to sign the Ukrainian can turn into a ‘concrete’ affair. However, a lot will depend on Lazio president Claudio Lotito.
