Nottingham Forest’s goal for their return to the Premier League will be to stay in the division and avoid a quick relegation and return to the Championship.
To achieve this goal the club have been clear that they need to improve their squad to be ready for England’s top flight, and work has been ongoing on that front for weeks.
George Syrianos is the man in charge of bringing players in, with Bild calling him the ‘transfer boss’ at Nottingham Forest. The 34-year-old was born near Cologne, and has previously worked for Stuttgart.
He knows the Bundesliga well, so it’s no surprise the English club have been looking to get recruits from Germany. Bild clearly expect more players to arrive in Nottingham, and they’ve spoken to Syrianos who made clear that’s the case, and hinted there could be further signings from the Bundesliga.
Bild quote him as saying: “Of course we have our transfer goals that need to be achieved and there are very interesting players in the Bundesliga who would fit in well with our concept.
“Promotion to the Premier League opens up new financial opportunities for us, but we will continue to act sensibly and prudently on the transfer market in the future. The development of transfer income and salaries in recent years has already been too rapid.”
Bild say that compared to England, German football is a ‘bargain paradise’, and that’s why Syrianos is so keen on doing business there.
