Birmingham City’s Marvin Ducksch is attracting interest from Real Sociedad, AEK Athens and MLS.

The striker joined Birmingham City for €2m from Werder Bremen in August 2025.

He’s scored 11 goals and contributed two assists from 32 matches for Birmingham City.

Ducksch had downgraded from the Bundesliga to the Championship to join the Blues. He managed nine goals and 11 assists from 36 matches in all competition for the German club last season. He has already scored two more goals than last season.

However, his overall statistics in his debut season in England aren’t as great as his last season at Werder Bremen. Below is the table [first is from Birmingham City] comparing the data per game from this and last season.

  • Expected Goals per season: 8.99 – 10.11
  • Expected assists per season: 2.37 – 9.06
  • Big chances created: 1 – 17
  • Crosses: 0.1 – 1.4
  • Successful dribbles: 0.1 – 0.2
  • Ground duels won: 0.3 – 1.0
  • Aerial duels won: 0.8 – 0.6

His performances in the second division in England have clearly not gone unnoticed. That’s according to Bild, who cover the latest on Real Sociedad and AEK Athens, and the work done by the player.

Ducksch’s improvisation helping Birmingham City

The 32-year-old has intensively worked on his fitness in recent months, to adapt and adjust to English football. He even changed his diet and training plan accordingly. This is now paying off for Birmingham City and is also attracting other clubs.

Real Sociedad and the Greek club have come forward to ask about the German. There’s no indication if the contact was made with Chris Davies’ side, his agent or both.

In addition to these two clubs, unnamed MLS sides are also keen. This shows Ducksch ‘remains a sought-after player on the market’.

In the winter market, two unnamed clubs tried to bring him back to Germany. However, Birmingham City refused to cooperate, and it’s not a given whether they will return in the summer.

Bild state: ‘But the question now arises again: Will Ducksch stay loyal to Birmingham – or will he move again in the summer? One thing is certain: With his performances, the striker is once again attracting the attention of several clubs.’

Both the club and the player will have a decision to make on his future in the summer if the interest continues to grow.

Birmingham City secured him on a contract until 2028.  According to Transfermarkt, his value has dropped from €3m in October to €2m now.

Should there be a sale, the English club are likely to demand a fee more than that €2m. An exit in the summer also depends on the player’s stance, which isn’t made clear yet.

Ducksch is represented by EMG Mundial, an agency based in Germany. They currently manage 61 players, of which 36 are in top divisions.
