Southampton face a battle if they wish to sign Elias Saad from St Pauli this summer, with the German side completely uninterested in a deal.
That’s according to MOPO, who insist that reports of a potential sale would be completely against the messages coming out of the club.
Reports over the past few weeks have linked Southampton with a move for Saad this summer, with it even claimed that they’ve sent scouts to watch him in person ahead of a transfer effort.
That’s come as bad news for St Pauli, who will be determined to keep hold of the player after his performances to help them get back to the Bundesliga this season.
MOPO go along that line today and pour cold water on the claims Southampton and other clubs are pushing to get the player.
They first question the validity of the claims before then labelling them ‘basically pointless’ anyway as he still has time on his contract, feels at home and comfortable at the club and there’s not even any consideration being given to a sale either.
In fact, he plays a key role in their planning for next season and thus a transfer is unlikely, even if they won’t like to hear that in Southampton and everywhere else linked with a move.
