Philippe Clement and Rangers could have an opportunity to sign Fiorentina’s Josip Brekalo this summer.
The winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Hajduk Split, where he scored two goals and registered eight assists from 14 league games. He returned to the Serie A side, but his future is ‘far away’ from them.
That’s according to Viola News, who state the 26-year-old could join Rangers in this window.
Fiorentina have appointed Raffaele Palladino as their new manager in the summer and he has given opportunities to Brekalo during pre-season.
The Croatia international and Jonathan Ikoné aren’t the first choice for Palladino, and the Italian club have made them available in the market.
Viola News’ title says clubs from the UK have carried out polls [made contact] for the duo. Within the report, it’s claimed Brekalo has ended up on Rangers’ transfer radar.
The report adds the negotiations are ‘still far from being in full swing’. This would indicate Philippe Clement’s side have made contact to sign the attacker but there’s no offer yet.
Rangers may have made contact to find out the conditions needed to sign Brekalo. He’s on the exit ramp and the Scottish side could take advantage of that to secure his services.
