Manchester United are not pursuing a deal for youngster Winsley Boteli at this moment in time, preferring to focus on their own youngster Ethan Wheatley.
That’s according to Fussball News, who insist Manchester United are not pushing to sign Boteli despite claims to the contrary.
Reports yesterday had put United in the growing list of admirers for Boteli, who has been earning rave reviews playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach’s youth team.
The 17-year-old impressed with 22 goals and six assists in 25 games in the U19 Bundesliga West last season, attracting attention from around Europe, including from some of the biggest clubs.
A report yesterday stated Manchester United had been in contact since the beginning of the week, but Fussball News say there’s nothing to it.
They state that United are not expected to make any effort to recruit Boteli. They have looked into the youngster but are pursuing other ideas and he is not an issue at this moment in time.
That’s also partly to do with them deciding to focus on an ‘in-house young talent’, namely Ethan Wheatley. He was awarded a professional contract in January this year after impressing in the U18 Premier League and Manchester United intend to promote him rather than focusing on signing a different talent.
