Earlier this month Galatasaray vice-chairman İbrahim Hatipoğlu revealed that his side are keen on signing Manchester United’s Scott McTominay this summer.
Turkish journalist Haluk Yürekli took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that the 27-year-old is on top of the Istanbul club’s wish list.
He adds ‘a point has been reached’ with the Manchester United player. This would indicate Galatasaray have reached an agreement with McTominay.
According to Yürekli, the Turkish champions have to find an agreement with the Red Devils, which hasn’t happened so far.
A Spor journalist Emre Kaplan says the midfielder has ‘said yes’ to Galatasaray for a deal worth €5.5m [likely net] per year.
He further adds the Süper Lig winners and the Premier League side have been negotiating a deal for the Scotland international for a ‘long time’ and the two clubs are still to find an agreement.
Kaplan claims Erik ten Hag’s decision on McTominay is ‘one of the most decisive points’ for Galatasaray to sign him.
Recent claims from elsewhere have stated Fulham are among the clubs to have shown interest in McTominay. Taking this into account, it’s quite possible that he has already said yes to Galatasaray.
It needs to be seen if the latest claims from Turkey will either be backed up or rejected by the English press.
The player’s deal lasts until 2025, with an option for another year. On Tuesday, Haber Sarı Kırmızı stated Galatasaray offered €15m, while Manchester United have requested €30m to sanction McTominay’s sale in this window.
