Over the past two weeks, the Italian media have said AC Milan will face competition from Manchester United to sign Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee in the summer window.
Two days ago, Gianluca Di Marzio reported Erik ten Hag had personally called the striker to convince him to join the Red Devils. He also stated the Serie A side are unwilling to meet the €15m commission requested by the 23-year-old’s agent, Kia Joorabchian.
On June 20th, Corriere di Bologna stated Manchester United are the only club willing to meet the agent’s requests.
A fresh report from Corriere di Bologna says the player’s exit from Bologna is ‘now certain’ and he’s ‘increasingly headed towards’ the Premier League side.
That’s because Manchester United ‘would have reached an agreement’ with Joorabchian over the €15m commission, and convinced his client. It’s pointed out that Ten Hag has called Zirkzee to ‘overcome his resistance’ to joining the Red Devils.
This claim isn’t backed up concretely yet by other major outlets in Italy. It quite feels like Corriere have used recent reports from their and other sources, and presented it as their latest claim.
AC Milan have identified alternatives to the Bologna frontman. Gazzetta dello Sport claims Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku and Tammy Abraham are on their agenda, and the AS Roma player would be cheaper than Zirkzee.
The player’s €40m clause is effective from today.
