At the beginning of August Germany’s SportBild reported that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool were very interested in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud.
It wasn’t just interest, it was explained that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool were so keen on the young midfielder that they were prepared to pay €30m to sign him during the summer transfer window.
That was then all talked down by the player’s agent, but the reports have continued and they’ve been along the same lines, with Liverpool and Juventus having reports of interest published several times a week.
Italy’s Calciomercato reiterated strong Liverpool and Juventus interest last week, and probably will again next week.
On Sunday The Express say Liverpool are watching the player and Klopp is ‘understood to be plotting’ a £25m bid to snatch him from Gladbach. That would fit snugly with the other reports, and Liverpool interest would be no surprise.
However, if there is no clause then Gladbach hold all the power, and either way they’ll no doubt be working to get Dahoud to sign a new contract and stay for at least another season after this one.
If he does have the €10m clause, and won’t sign a new contract to remove it then a move may be possible in January.
