Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi is allegedly on the wish-list of several clubs, including Arsenal and Napoli.
Napoli are looking for a striker to replace Gonzalo Higuain, whilst Arsenal want to add another striker to their squad.
Inter, however, are in no mood of selling the Argentine star, and instead want him to sign a new deal. Napoli are prepared to offer around €60m for Icardi, but Inter apparently want to resist any offer made for their best player.
It would be good to see that stance tested by an actual €60m offer, especially given the circus Icardi has brought to his club this summer, just like the circus he brought last summer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday, Arsenal have again contacted Icardi’s agent and wife, Wanda Nara. Wenger could offer Olivier Giroud plus €35m to bring Icardi to London, but that might not be enough to tempt the Serie A club.
It is reported Icardi is ready to renew his contract at Inter, but that’s not going to happen before October.
Again, despite the Italian media being insistent on Arsenal interest, it wouldn’t be surprise if it’s mainly coming from the player’s camp. Icardi and his ‘environment’ doesn’t seem to be a natural fit for Arsene Wenger.
