Belgium have confirmed Aston Villa’s Amadou Onana withdrew from their squad on Monday.
Het Belang van Limburg cover the national team’s injury situation ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein later today.
The Aston Villa player and Lille’s Nathan Ngoy didn’t take part in training with the rest of the group on Monday.
Later that day, the Royal Belgian Football Association [RBFA] confirmed that the duo won’t be part of the squad for today’s fixture.
HBVL say the RFBA have cited “precaution” as a reason for Onana’s withdrawal. Ngoy, on the other hand, injured his hand. Therefore, Belgium manager Rudi Garcia won’t be able to utilise the duo for the clash against Liechtenstein.
Another Belgian newspaper, Het Nieuwsblad, states the Aston Villa midfielder is ‘injured’, without providing any further details. They add the 24-year-old has already left the camp.
Onana picked up a hamstring injury in August and returned to action on October 5th. He represented his country last month but missed September’s international break.
Unai Emery and Aston Villa would be concerned about the midfielder being forced to leave the Belgium squad.
