Even though Edinson Cavani’s injury stopped him from joining the national team, the Manchester United striker still travelled to Uruguay, where he’s been taking parts in events and speaking to the local media.

The 34-year-old now gave an interview to DelSol Radio, having a quick chat on how things have been going at Old Trafford this season.

It started with him being quizzed on his plans for his future.

“You never know how things can happen, sometimes in the best moments things happen to you, or sometimes when you think that everything is going wrong, things turn and start to work in a different way, and everything changes. Today I want to recover as soon as possible to be at the disposal of Manchester United and my national team,” said Cavani (via ESPN).

“At the end of the day that’s what you want, you live 100% for football and what you least want is to be out, so I want to recover to play these remaining months of the league and try to do it in the best way and to the top.”

Cavani also talked about his partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo and how it’s been to play with the Portuguese star this season.

“It’s a pleasure not only for the fact that he’s a football star, but also for the fact that I see the way he has to handle the brilliance of that star that he has forged in his career, and to see the way he faces each training day by day is a sincere pleasure.”

“He is one of the great players that I have played with and that arouses admiration in me.”

“You enjoy it and try to learn, follow him in things that you may think are perfect, and I try to enjoy it in the sense that football sometimes allows you to hang out with stars but does not let you enjoy them for different reasons. Today I try to learn from their way of facing football and in the little that we have talked we have some similar things, perhaps not in terms of roots, but yes to what has been the formation of each one; we have similar things in that, not in football because he’s a beast”.

“The important thing in the team is to complement each other, they have already seen us together and I think that beautiful and positive things have come out, I’ve always said that the pitch is the one that speaks and one must be there to give the best, train every day to be 100%.”

“Hopefully we can continue to share moments on the pitch and give victories to the fans of our team, Manchester United.”

Speaking to the Uruguayan media earlier this week, Cavani had already explained that he’s been struggling with a tendon injury for a while.

That’s why he missed the derby against Manchester City and ended up staying out of Uruguay’s upcoming matches for the World Cup Qualifiers.

The striker reportedly went to Madrid to treat his issue, but it’s still not known when he’ll be available to play for the Red Devils again.
