Argentina’s attempt to have Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho for the U20 World Cup is becoming a small saga.
The latest update on this story comes from TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul, who claims the Red Devils are being ‘inflexible’ about letting the 18-year-old take part in the tournament.
The big concern now is because Argentina’s U20 manager Javier Mascherano has already spoken to Manchester United, and that wasn’t enough to convince the club.
Earlier this week, we covered reports claiming Garnacho himself had personally asked Erik ten Hag about the release, and that didn’t work either.
Those two requests, however, will apparently not be enough for Argentine to give up. According to another story from TyC Sports, AFA president Claudio Tapa will give it a try. That’s set to be their final attempt.
Garnacho isn’t the only player who’s not being released. There are other European sides who are reluctant, and the situation varies from club to club.
In Manchester United’s case, they’re focused on the final fixtures of the Premier League, which could take them to the Champions League next year, as well as the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
