On September 20th, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed Ivan Perišić had suffered a serious knee injury. The winger has gone under the knife and Croatia doctor Saša Janković revealed the surgery “went well”.
The 34-year-old will be out of action for several months but that hasn’t stopped him from being linked to Hajduk Split.
Perišić spent six years with Hajduk Split’s academy and 24 Sata state that ‘it is inevitable’ that he will leave Tottenham to join them.
The former Inter Milan man’s current deal at Spurs expires in 2024 and it’s not clear if he will join them in January or next summer.
As it stands, a move after this season seems likely as Perišić is recovering from an injury and doesn’t have to give up on his salary at Spurs, which is reportedly £9.3m per year.
It’s claimed the attacker may only earn 10% of his current salary if he were to return to his former club.
The outlet points out the Tottenham player is still capable of getting himself lucrative deals from elsewhere but he has his heart set on returning to Hajduk Split.
Therefore, 24 Sata say Hajduk Split’s supporters must ‘bow to him’ for the financial sacrifice he will make to join their club.
