Back in January, we saw many stories from the Brazilian press claiming Newcastle United were attempting the signing of Matheus França from Flamengo.
Several bids were reported at the time, with the last one being of €20m, but that wasn’t enough to convince the Rio de Janeiro side.
It turns out that this story is now brought back, this time by journalist Mauro Sant Anna on Youtube.
He featured a video where he’s mostly talking about Arsenal’s interest in Matheus Gonçalves, but ends up talking more about Newcastle and Matheus França.
That’s because the Magpies’ target is expected to leave first, with Flamengo waiting for the bids that will be made in the summer window.
It’s claimed that bids ‘not only from Newcastle’ should arrive for him in the coming months, and it will be ‘inevitable’ for the Brazilian club to sell him now.
There are just no details on how much Flamengo would demand for França this time. Back at the end of the January window, his price was said to be of €25m, but we shall see if that amount will be kept in the summer window.
