Right at the end of the transfer window, Antonio Nusa became a late target for Chelsea, who felt they needed to add one last young player to their already excessively large squad.

Unfortunately for the Blues, no agreement was found with Club Brugge, who stood firm and had already agreed with their player that he wouldn’t be going anywhere.

Nusa then admitted Chelsea offered him a lot of money, but the transfer never happened, allowing him to focus on the international break, which has seen him earn his first cap for his country in the 6-0 win over Jordan and be highly praised after his first goal, the opener, including from Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard and other teammates who spoke to TV2.

The Gunners star was left in awe of what the 18-year-old did, and simply couldn’t hide his excitement at yet another talent coming through for Norway.

The Arsenal midfielder said: “Fantastic! He is an incredibly exciting player. You see it, everything he gets the ball, it’s exciting. He is still young and will get even better. It was cool to see him. He deserved to get the chance that he takes it to such an extent. Incredibly cool!

“He must continue as he has done. Work hard, be humble. He’s a nice boy. Very calm and nice type. It’s going to be just fine. He just has to enjoy the football and continue to deliver as he does. Then it will be good.”

Arsenal’s Ødegaard knows everything about being subjected to a lot of pressure at a young age due to footballing talent, and there will be few more suited than him to advise Nusa going forward.

While the move to Chelsea didn’t take place this time around, it’s fair to assume that Todd Boehly won’t have liked losing out on the talent, and with the youngster now known to an even wider audience, they might have to pay even more.
