Sevilla director of football Victor Orta is slowly abandoning a plan to sign Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal this summer, with a deal becoming ‘increasingly complicated’.
That’s according to La Colina de Nervión, who say the defender had been on the ‘favourite’ list for the director as he plans for the summer.
They explain that Sevilla’s defence is one of the areas that needs the most attention in the next window, with none of the current first choice clear about their futures.
The club are already looking at options and Kiwior had been one of them as he was barely featuring under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
Orta had looked at the Arsenal man as an option and the idea of signing him had become ‘quite popular’, but that hypothetical move has become ‘increasingly complicated’ in recent weeks.
That’s because Kiwior has found himself starting for Arsenal, featuring at left-back and impressing too, with a goal and an assist in three games so far.
That’s led to Arteta praising him publicly for persevering after something of a difficult start following his move last year, and hinting that he is becoming ‘increasingly important’ to Arsenal’s plans moving forwards.
That would make a move to Sevilla in the summer unlikely and so Orta may now need to change his plans and forget a player he had among his ‘favourites’.
