Everton’s negotiations for Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom are progressing, with the Italian side more than happy to sanction a loan deal.
That’s according to Corriere della Sera journalist Ciro Troise, who reports that if Everton make the offer, Napoli will be willing to sell it.
A report earlier today claimed that Everton were closing in on a deal for Lindstrom, who would be arriving on loan with an option for the Toffees to make it permanent.
Initial discussions over the player were said to have progressed quickly and well and the indication was that he would be arriving at Goodison Park sooner rather than later.
Troise now follows that up and while he doesn’t go quite as far, he does insist that Napoli are more than willing to accept whatever proposal comes their way from Everton.
“For Lindstrom, Napoli is negotiating with Everton, if there were to be a loan proposal with the right or obligation to buy, Napoli would be happy to sell him,” he is quoted as saying during an appearance on Radio Capri.
This stance is backed up by Sport Napoli, who report that it is ‘full steam ahead’ in terms of negotiations between the two sides.
They say that Lindstrom is ‘close to leaving’ Napoli after his disappointing first season there last year and new manager Antonio Conte has given his permission for the winger to leave.
This has spurred on Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna, who is ‘accelerating’ the talks to get Lindstrom out and leading the process of selling him to Everton.
His aim is to recover funds to and free up space for new arrivals, so it’s up for debate how the former would work if he were to arrive on loan at Everton.
It is also stated, though, that he is ‘facilitating’ the player’s departure, which is another indicator that there’s nothing to really stop this move happening or stop the Toffees from getting their latest addition sooner rather than later.
