Earlier this month, Liverpool tied Alisson donw to a one-year extension. That decision came out of the blue but hasn’t removed doubts about his future.

Initially, the Brazilian’s deal at Anfield was about to run out in the summer. This left the Reds to act quickly and exercise their option for extension, with the player now contracted until 2027.

Before the renewal, Sport Witness had covered claims from Italy about interest from Juventus and Inter Milan. The two clubs have been looking for a new goalkeeper, seeking replacements for Michele Di Gregorio and Yann Sommer respectively.

Talk about their interest died down but today’s TuttoSport are certain that the chase for the Liverpool man isn’t over yet.

Further contact expected for goalkeeper

The Turin newspaper, who are generally over-optimistic, believe that the 33-year-old is seen as a priority target at the Old Lady. This is mainly because of Luciano Spalletti, who managed the Brazilian at AS Roma. The Italian helped him rise to a completely different level before he moved to Liverpool.

It is believed that initial discussions have taken place with the veteran’s entourage. This was done to beat Inter Milan, who are also pursuing Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario.

In-depth contacts for the goalkeeper are expected at the end of the season. At that point, Alisson could be in a better state of mind to decide his future.

To make a move possible, Juve would require a wage cut. The Brazil international earns €6m per season, with the Bianconeri expecting him to compromise if he wants to seal a return to Italy.

TuttoSport are sure a deal worth €15m can prove enough, with Liverpool not expected to ask for more. That, again, may be overly optimistic.

Move more complex than thought

As mentioned – this seems like another case of the Turin paper just blindly believing what they report.

There is no reason for Alisson to take a wage cut, as things stand. This is mainly because more suitors can line up for him in the summer. A reunion with Spalletti would be a romantic idea but at 33, he would be looking at his last big wage at another club.

Saudi Arabia has been mentioned as a destination in the past and clubs there can afford bigger wages.

Besides, Alisson could yet stay at Liverpool. He can have a role to play next season.
