If Andreas Pereira had a great loan spell at Granada last season, he definitely can’t say the same about his time at Valencia now.
Despite great faith shown by the Spanish club in the Manchester United loanee, he’s been failing to impress since the start of the season, regardless of the many chances he’s been having.
Gonçalo Guedes, signed on a loan deal from PSG, didn’t need any time to adapt and has been excelling at the Spanish side. But even though the Valencian press tried to say ‘Pereira is no Guedes, but has some qualities’, it’s becoming harder to defend the Manchester United owned player.
Guedes is now injuried, and Pereira had the chance to replace the team’s star with a big sequence of games to play. The problem is his performances are still disappointing, and that’s what Deporte Valenciano writes.
Something that catches attention is the last paragraph in the story, in which they explain how disappointing Pereira’s loan has been after three months.
“Andreas Pereira leaves many more doubts. Since landing in Mestalla his performance has been irregular, he leaves flashes of quality but has lacked a lot of continuity. Against Celta he was heavy and Valencia missed the verticality and improvisation of Guedes. The footballer has to improve his level and try to make Guedes be forgotten during his period of rest.”
As there were some rumours that Manchester United would like to bring Pereira back in the January window, it seems that Valencia wouldn’t be much against the idea if it happens.
