Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has admitted he is open to a move to Ajax this summer, as he looks to bounce back from a difficult few years.
The Dutchman has been speaking to Ziggo Sport about his former club and what the future holds for him this summer.
The belief is that the midfielder will be one of several players Manchester United look to move on in the summer transfer window as INEOS look to start afresh.
He’s currently on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt after joining them in the January transfer window in the hope of securing regular football and getting his career back on track.
He’s had a difficult few years since joining Manchester United in a €39m deal from Ajax in September 2020, struggling to establish himself at Old Trafford or replicate the form he’d shown in the Netherlands.
And he’d be more than open to returning to where it started at Ajax if the opportunity presents itself.
“Why not? Ajax has always been a special place for me, so we certainly cannot rule that out,” he said.
“At Ajax only one thing matters: winning and becoming champions. Now European football and fifth place is the highest achievable after a turbulent year. It’s difficult now, but Ajax always bounces back.
“I have also had mixed years due to injuries. But now I’m looking forward again. If I keep working hard, I’m confident things will turn out fine.
“It is up to you to turn it around. I’m working on that. I am convinced of my own qualities. If I stay fit and keep working hard, I will definitely be fine.”
