Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall today shared his first public words as a Besiktas player.
The 27-year-old has just arrived in Istanbul ahead of his half-season spell, and when quoted by Sports Digitale, he sounds very confident about the qualities he carries with him.
“Determination, strength, leadership. I think those are the main things I would bring to the football team. I work hard and I’m a warrior on the pitch,” said Worrall.
In other quotes brought by Asist Analiz, Worrall said it was the right time to leave Nottingham Forest.
“I think it was the right time to try something new. I was born and raised in Nottingham and I’m lucky to have played so many games with the club. I’m very, very excited to play for a big club like Besiktas.”
It’s been eight and a half years since Worrall was promoted to Nottingham Forest’s first team. Although he was consistently part of their squad in the past few seasons, a loan isn’t something totally new to him, as he previously had temporary spells away.
It was from 2019 that he started consistently playing for the Tricky Trees, with a total of 226 appearances for the club. This season, however, he even began as a starter and their captain, but was soon dropped to the bench and leaves the club with only 544 minutes played in 2023/24.
Worrall’s contract with Nottingham Forest runs until 2026, although Besiktas will have a buying option over him.
