Aston Villa fullback Alex Moreno is hopeful that his move to the Premier League side will help him get a place in the national team.
The 29-year-old, who previously played for several clubs in La Liga, was never given the chance of playing for his country, and there are a couple of things that may help him with that now.
The first one is that he just moved to Aston Villa in a €13.5m move from Real Betis, and has been getting regular minutes in English football. The second is that there’s fresh management at the national team, with Luis de la Fuente taking charge of them.
Moreno was interviewed this week in Spain, and showed how hopeful he is that his name will be in the call-up.
“Hopefully, I am waiting to see when the list comes out. My dream and my desire are always there, I’d like to go to the national team, hopefully it will be like that and I can have that opportunity,” Alex Moreno is quoted as saying by Estadio Deportivo.
“I’ll continue working hard and it would be something very exciting but the main thing is to do well at Aston Villa and then be able to go to the national team.”
In other parts of the interview, Moreno also gave praise towards Aston Villa boss Unai Emery, and talked about his adaptation to Birmingham, claiming he’s been taking English lessons to improve his new life in a new country. You can find those quotes here.
