With Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus making a little visit to Brazil last week, he was interviewed by Sportv show Bem Amigos, which was aired on Monday night.

There he obviously spoke about the great job he did at Flamengo, and then had a long chat about his future, commenting on the possibilities of taking charge of new clubs or national teams.

It turns out that even though Jesus didn’t want to reveal the federations who invited him to work in international football, he did name one club who went after him.

That’s Everton.

“When I left Benfica, I had the opportunity to work in different parts of the world, including England. Everton invited me, they didn’t enthuse me, because I’m used to winning titles, not games,” Jorge Jesus told Sportv.

“It’s within a project like this I’m looking for. Some doors open, others close. I have already closed some doors for not having accepted the moment I left Benfica.”

Jorge Jesus left his last job at Benfica in December 2021, after Christmas. At that time, Rafa Benitez was having his final weeks in charge of Everton, being officially sacked on the 16h of January 2022.

It turns out the Toffees had already been linked to the Portuguese manager in the past, but that was actually one year before this approach mentioned by him.

It happened at the end of 2019, when the coach was winning big things with Flamengo, and was said to be approached by the Goodison Park side. The Brazilian media, at the time, also claimed he’d only leave for a club where he’d fight for titles.
