On December 21st, Denmark’s BT reported Tottenham Hotspur are Roony Bardghji’s ‘big suitor’. A few days later, we relayed news from Italy that Spurs could get serious because the FC Copenhagen is an ‘express request’ of Ange Postecoglou.
The winger had left the door open to change clubs towards the end of the winter market but not club got a deal over the line.
Bold.dk state the interest in the ‘ambitious Swede’ has been great, and only Tottenham are mentioned.
Copenhagen sporting director Peter Christiansen has now revealed his side could have sold the 18-year-old in the recently concluded window.
“In general terms, I can say that we have a lot of players who have done well for a long time. So, I think I’ll stick to saying that if we wanted to, we could have done it, but that has not been our ‘aim’,” he told Bold.dk.
The Sweden U21 international’s current deal lasts until December 2025 and the Danish club’s director has opened the door for a sale in the future.
“Roony’s time will come. I’m sure of that,” he said.
Bold.dk state Copenhagen are dreaming of a club-record sale of over DKK 150m [€20m] from Bardghji’s sale.
On this subject, Christiansen explained: “After all, it’s the market that determines what the price will be. It’s clear that the bigger the club, the more muscle they have financially, and so the transfer will be bigger for us.
“I’m sure he’ll probably get the opportunity at some point, but it wasn’t in this window. But he certainly has the potential for it, but let’s see.”
The Copenhagen official has also said that the Tottenham target ‘dreams are big’ for his future.
“We know what dreams and talent he has, but he’s a humble boy who works insanely hard on the training ground. He has his dreams, and that is a huge driving force for him. But that’s just the way it is at Copenhagen,” he added.
