Philippe Sandler has insisted he is ready to start life anew at Feyenoord after his move from Manchester City on deadline day.
The defender parted ways with City at the end of the January transfer window, moving to the Dutch club on a free transfer.
It brought an end to a four-year stay at the Etihad, where he had been since a £2.25m move from PEC Zwolle in 2018.
Things never worked out with Manchester City, with Sandler only managing two appearances for the first team and spending most of the last four years out on loan.
Those loan spells have proven to be difficult, with injuries limiting him to just 11 appearances for Anderlecht and two for Troyes.
He’s now hoping things can be different back in the Netherlands and insists that he’s gained one thing from his time with Manchester City, physicality.
“I’m still the same player; I just got physically stronger in Manchester,” he told De Telegraaf.
“I’ve only had contact injuries, apart from my hamstring injury in September last year. I got that because I played another game too soon.
“But we are putting together a programme, so I think we should not go too fast. That would be unwise.
“But as a footballer, you do want to play as soon as possible. That never quite goes together. Not going too fast, but certainly not too quietly either.”
