Sevilla director of football Victor Orta has insisted he is not concerned about Aston Villa’s surprise move for Marcos Acuna and remains calm over any potential departures from the club.
The Spaniard has been speaking to various Spanish media ahead of the clash with Manchester City this evening in the UEFA Super Cup.
It’s a busy period for the director of football, who continues to keep reshaping their squad this summer after arriving as the replacement for Monchi earlier this year.
It’s been a window of change for Sevilla so far, who have been determined to refresh the squad and ensure they can be more competitive, at least in La Liga, than they proved to be last season.
The latest potential big-name departure from the squad is Marcos Acuna, who is being targeted by former Sevilla duo Unai Emery and Monchi at Aston Villa.
They’ve already made a bid for the Argentine, which has so far been rejected by Sevilla, who are looking for more than Aston Villa are seemingly willing to pay at this moment in time.
That’s something for Orta to work on with his counterparts at Villa Park, and he insists that he’s not worried at this point in time.
“I’m not worried,” Mundo Deportivo report him saying.
“I think the market is open and Sevilla, throughout its history, has sold players with market offers and players with offers on and off the market. It is part of the idiosyncrasy of this game until 1 September.
“I have to be alert and have responsibility with the job to deal with everything that can happen. can happen. You have to be natural about these things that you have to take on board.
“I have no doubt that there is a capacity to react because in this club, before I arrived, there was a technical secretariat with a lot of information. What I have been able to bring with my team is more information and knowledge. I don’t feel worried in that sense. We will have options as other teams will have.”
