Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta has admitted it is no surprise to him that Loïc Badé is a target for Aston Villa.
ABC Sevilla and Diario de Sevilla cover comments from the Sevilla boss today in which he praises the Aston Villa target.
Unai Emery’s side appear to be edging closer to a move for the Frenchman. Monchi and Damia Vidagany made a trip to Sevilla last week to start discussions for him. Monchi signed the defender for the Spanish club before he moved to Villa Park.
He is a player the Spanish director of football knows well and now wants to reunite with in Birmingham. A deal is currently dependent on Diego Carlos potentially moving to Fenerbahce.
Reports yesterday stated that is progressing and there is a deal in place between the two sides. That has led to increased belief in Seville that an official bid for Badé is imminent. Indeed, that was very much the sentiment in a report from the Seville based media today.
Losing the defender would be a major blow for Sevilla. He’s been a key player again for them this season, adding to an already growing reputation in Spain.
Pimienta certainly believes in the Frenchman and admits he is not surprised Aston Villa are now showing an interest in him.
“He is a very important player,” ABC report him saying.
“I am not surprised that he has the possibility of leaving for an important club, but he is calm and working well. He is a great professional and we will be prepared for whatever happens.”
“He is very important for Sevilla. I am not surprised that he has a chance of leaving,” Diario quote him as saying.
“He has the level and is calm. We have to be prepared for everything that happens. The sporting direction has to be prepared so that, if a player leaves, another one comes in his place without the team losing level, but Loïc is a very important player for us.”
