After playing in Germany, England, Spain, Italy and Turkey, Kevin-Prince Boateng certainly has a lot of good stories to tell.
So when interviewed by DAZN this week, he recalled several moments of his career, and some quotes were picked by website Milan Live today.
One of these stories was from his time at Tottenham Hotspur, when he spent a huge amount of his money on three luxury cars, with claims at the time saying he’d done so in a single day. Now he admits he’s not proud of it.
“I’m not proud of this story. In reality, there is a story behind it,” Boateng told DAZN (via Milan Live).
“I tried to buy my happiness, at that moment I wasn’t happy because I wasn’t playing since the coach didn’t consider me. Going back, I wouldn’t do it again. Without being arrogant I could have had a better career.”
“I put Ter Stegen in goal, even if Donnarumma will become the top one day. Right-back I choose Zambrotta, then I put my brother Jerome as central and I wouldn’t want to choose between Thiago Silva and Nesta, if I have to say, I say Thiago because I like how he played more. On the left I put Jordi Alba. In midfield between Gattuso and Busquets I say Rino for his mentality. I can’t choose between Pirlo and Modric, I’m telling myself… Attacking midfielder Ronaldinho, he’s been my idol since I was little. In attack Messi, Ribery and Ibrahimovic. Zlatan is one of the strongest strikers ever.”
Boateng joined Tottenham in a €7.9m deal from Hertha Berlin in 2007. He only made 24 appearances for Spurs, and following a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, he ended up sold to Portsmouth in a €4.5m deal in 2009.
Since his time in London, he’s played for over ten different clubs, and signed for Italy’s second division side Monza last summer.
