On Tuesday, we covered quotes from some of the French speaking members of the Watford squad regarding Ismaïla Sarr, who were full of praise for the winger.

Both Abdoulaye Doucouré and Christian Kabasele spoke to RMC Sport, lauding the young forward following his game against Liverpool, during which he scored two goals and set up the third in a 3-0 win over Jürgen Klopp’s side.

Among other compliments, the French midfielder called Sarr ‘humble’; a trait the forward demonstrated in an interview with Canal+ Sport for their show Talents d’Afrique.

Seemingly coming before the game against Liverpool as the journalist talks about four goals in 19 games (he now has six in 20), the talk revealed the player’s annoyance at how he had performed for Watford so far this season when asked if he was happy with his statistics.

He said: “No, because I haven’t done enough, I haven’t scored a lot of goals, I haven’t given many assists. I’m not happy at all. I need to do more”.

And do more is exactly what the 22-year-old did in the following game against Liverpool, as he terrorised the Reds’ backline and calmly finished past Alisson, widely seen as the best goalkeeper in the world, twice.

Watford fans will now be hoping he doesn’t rest on his laurels now, but judging by how self-critical the attacker seems to be, we doubt that will be the case.
