On Wednesday, L’Equipe reported Will Still had made a trip to England to hold talks with Sunderland over the vacant managerial job at the Stadium of Light. It was also stated the Stade de Reims coach is ready to pack his bags in the coming days.
Later that day, Jeunes Footeux reported the Ligue 1 side don’t expect the 31-year-old to leave midway through the season. The Belgian was then directly asked about the recent reports on the possibility of him moving to Sunderland.
Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot has told So Foot and others, via SMS, that there’s “nothing serious” with regards to the claims of Still leaving for the Black Cats.
“Well then, we’re in football,” he added, presumably jokingly to accept that anything can happen.
Reports coming out of France yesterday said Still wasn’t content with his club’s intentions for the January window. It was also stated the Championship side would be willing to back him in the market if he moved there.
So Foot relay this and question if the Belgian was leaking this information deliberately, at a time when Sunderland have shown interest, to put pressure on Reims, and get what he wants in the winter market.
So Foot state Still even joked about the situation during training yesterday.
“Ah finally, I’m not in England!” he said jokingly.
After that training session he told others in the French media not to believe everything they read, and it would appear Will Still is playing several games at the same time.
