The Viktor Gyökeres saga is about to be over.
As reported by Mais Futebol, the Coventry City striker landed in Lisbon ahead of his move to Sporting.
The player was filmed at the Humberto Delgado airport along with his agent Hasan Cetinkaya. There, he was welcomed by Lions’ chief Hugo Viana.
Gyokeres was surrounded by journalists, and only said he’s ‘very happy’ about switching Coventry City for Sporting.
There’s huge expectation about the centre-forward’s move to Sporting, as he’s expected to be the Lisbon side’s most expensive signing ever.
The Lions are expected to pay Coventry City an initial fee of €20m, plus another potential €4m other in bonuses, and reportedly beat English teams in the race for the striker.
Even though both clubs have already started their pre-season work, he had been taking care of the final details before sorting out his move to Portugal.
Gyokeres joined Coventry City on a loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2021, with the move being made permanent for €1.2m the following summer. He now leaves the club with 43 goals and 17 assists in 116 appearances
