Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga is today featured in a nice interview with Fotboll Direkt.
The Swedish outlet was very much interesting in knowing how the player feels about leaving his country so early, as he never managed to play in their top flight.
Elanga, however, claims to be very glad of moving to England so early, as he’s happy to be playing for Nottingham Forest now.
“Not really. I’m very grateful that my parents brought me here, if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be where I am now, playing in the league I play in now. If they didn’t take me to England, I wouldn’t be where I am today and I wouldn’t be who I am,” Elanga told Fotboll Direkt.
Asked whether he’d like to play in the Swedish league someday, Elanga doesn’t sound very sure about it.
“Right now I’m in England, I’m 21 years old, I still have 18 years of football to play, so right now I’m just trying to enjoy and do what I can in England. Then we’ll see what happens in the future.”
Elanga played for IF Elsborg’s and Malmo’s academies in Sweden, but it was in 2015 that Manchester United gave him a contract.
He played for the club until 2023, making his way through the first team, where he had 55 appearances, with four goals and four assists.
It was last summer that Nottingham Forest found an agreement with the Old Trafford side to sign him for €17.5m.
So far, he has four goals and six assists in 23 appearances for the Tricky Trees, where he has a contract running until 2028.
