Late last summer, Leicester City had the chance to sign Jeremie Boga on loan from Atalanta, but the player decided against it at the last moment.
At first, it felt like he made the wrong move, even if the Foxes weren’t in the best of form, as the Ivory Coast international was struggling for game time, but that has changed since.
He has played a lot more since the World Cup break, and it’s clear he’s thrilled at the decision to ignore the Leicester temptation, as he explained in an interview after the 3-1 win over Cremonese, relayed by Il Giorno.
He said: “I feel the trust of the team, the manager and the club, and I’m glad I supported the club when there was the possibility of leaving in the summer. I’m happy that my goal was important to win in Cremona. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but it was important to win and we did it.”
The forward, who came on for Mario Pasalic at half-time, scored his team’s second goal when the score was 1-1, before Ademola Lookman, whom Leicester also know well, capped off the win with a third goal in the 93rd minute.
Boga has five assists and two goals in his last 12 appearances for the club, and he has proven why sticking around can end up being beneficial.
Leicester, down their end, sacked Brendan Rodgers at the weekend after a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace, and it appears that Boga dodged a bullet by snubbing the move to the King Power Stadium, as we doubt he would have single-handedly helped avoid the current situation.
